On October 26, 2015, an earthquake measuring 7.5 on the Richter Scale hit northern areas of Afghanistan and Pakistan. The epicenter was in the Hindu Kush range and tremors were felt as far away as Delhi and Karachi. An approximated 300 people lost their lives in the earthquake and more than 1200 people were seriously injured. The earthquake was also responsible for the destruction of more than 100,000 houses and about 500 schools.
Most of the areas affected by the calamity are remote and are already facing the prospect of a harsh winter.
We have partnered up with a local, grassroots youth-driven NGO in Pakistan: Resettling the Indus, which has been involved in organising search & rescue efforts , medical relief camps and rehabilitation efforts in the affected areas.
We are helping Resettling the Indus(RTI) collect funds for medical supplies and logistics for their team of mobile doctors and first responders.
All donations colleected from the screening will go towards RTI's relief efforts.
