UPDATE: Over half a million views! Robert was on Keith Olbermann's show, dozens of blogs have linked, and over 100,000 visitors from DIGG alone!
Most of you are aware, and most likely have been for a while, that under the guise of "news" Fox has offered its viewers a steady stream of bias pertaining to social and political issues since its inception in 1996. From attacking Black America to pushing for war with Iran, from demonizing bloggers to distorting environmental issues, theirs is quite a record of achievement in propagating propaganda that is neither fair nor balanced.
Today we have a surprise (well at least it surprised all of us at BNF). Thanks to the terrific work of the News Hounds, we bring you Fox and ole' Billy O'Reilly attacking decency. Yes, you read that right. The self-righteous, pompous, bloviators who deign to lecture on how we should behave in our personal lives, are in fact exploiting women, pandering to the lowest common denominator and pushing smut out on the airwaves on a daily basis!
And this will definitely raise your hackles. YOU ARE PAYING FOR THIS! Yes, you read that right too. So watch the video and pass it along to as many on your email list as possible. We simply must let the FCC know we are mad as hell about having their smut in our homes and being forced to pay for it. And we’re simply not going to take it anymore.
Cenk Uygur from the Young Turks has a great take on the video here.
Here's more from ChrisH at the News Hounds:
Bill O'Reilly is sort of FOX's preacher, or the father figure who scolds and punishes the wayward, appealing to the viewers who yearn for the "Father Knows Best" days of yore when minorities knew their place, women stayed home in servitude, kids were seen and not heard, and a man's home was his castle. Yes, those were the days – if you weren't a minority, a woman, or a kid. Hence O'Reilly's popularity among older white males who blame their lost stature on teevee even as they're glued to it.
O'Reilly has a habit of lecturing about the decline of moral values, although he phrases it in the context of his book "Culture Warrior" and targets the "secular progressive" faction of society, who are allegedly out to abolish "traditional values." He routinely blasts Hollywood, television, the Internet, and the music industry for producing and selling media he considers harmful to the nation's moral fabric, scrupulously avoiding his owner's part in all these productions. (FOX Television retains high honors year after year for unsuitable programming, according to Brent Bozell's Family Television Council.)
He even asserted in "The State of the Union According to the Folks" that " Sixty-three percent believe the moral and ethical climate in America is declining. And it is. The Internet and an irresponsible media have hit traditional values hard."
Like the O'Reilly Factor?
O'Reilly has recently addressed such important topics as PETA using nude female images in ads promoting a healthy vegetarian diet, "Girls Gone Wild" participants suing the producer after the fact, and dating websites that only allow "hot" people to sign up – all so he could show related videos of scantily clad young women to the dirty old men who watch. Under the guise of reporting on Internet porn sites who publish pictures of the youngest girls allowed (18), the moral decadence exhibited at beaches during Spring break, and American Idol stars who take it all off for magazines, O'Reilly played videos and showed screenshots in the interest of letting his audience see what he's talking about, raising their, um, outrage.
I don't recall seeing any soft porn on my console TV growing up when my parents watched the Huntley-Brinkley report or later during the MacNeil-Lehrer Hour.
Now O'Reilly is far from alone in featuring soft porn during alleged "news" reports. Neil Cavuto is notorious for his Hooters' girls interviews and dropping chyrons to more amply exhibit the cleavage of his quests. John Gibson has been known to do the gratuitous story or two on Playboy bunnies and sexy Internet triplets campaigning for Mitt Romney, and the Anna Nicole Smith story came complete, day after day, with video segments of her physical assets. And it seemed no one could resist the Paris Hilton burger commercial as we followed her every move to prison, home again, back to prison, and finally, apparently, off the face of the earth.
Even prudish Hannity can't resist the sexy teachers stories, and he uses the opportunities to moralize about standards and expectations – why shouldn't teachers have a morals clause in their contracts, like he does? Not one to be outdone, O'Reilly even went so far, last night 11/5/07, as to suggest that teachers should be subjected to annual polygraph tests to assure that they are not fooling around with underage students or using drugs.
But O'Reilly is the king of hypocrisy so it's not surprising that he moralizes against the decline of decency while simultaneously promoting it. He intones that we won't see anything that we couldn't see at the beach – if your beach has stripper poles, flashers, erotic dancers, and Playboy bunnies. He excuses it saying he has to show folks what he's talking about, but that's nonsense – do we need to see corpses when we hear of car accidents, or flag-draped coffins when we speak of Iraq? Oh, scratch that – he doesn't speak of the "carnage du jour" in Iraq.
FOX puts the 'tit' in titillation and the ass, well that's usually in front of the camera.

You have one brand to choose from and I have four. Thanks for showing Faux loses.
We need only one state-run news agency, not all these various corporate profit mongers.
You call that gratuitous sexual imagery? Yes, there’s little point to it, but it’s better than looking at Bill O’Reilly’s mug for 19 seconds more than necessary.
Fact is, that while they are biased, and in O’Reilly’s case, lousy human beings, of the images shown, only about 30% were actually explicit. You see worse on MTV, why is it such a big deal when Fox does it? I hate Fox as much as any self-respecting human with an IQ that reaches double figures, but this is a cheap shot, a poorly constructed and badly thought through criticism.
I apologise to all the liberals here.
Actualy this is kinda funny. I mean why is there even an argument. We are on a web site called FoxAttacks and we are surprised and angry that every article is a hit piece? LAUGHABLE
Robert Greenwald is nothing more than a hate-mongering Socialist Democrat guttersnipe.
But I also cant stand Fox News.
They are right-wing loons.
This website has gone from bad to worse–now YOU CAN BURRY posts you don’t agree with!
What a joke–why even have a blog for debate if you do not wish to hear/see the other side–typical liberal rules!
pssssssssssst this
I know my last post is childish but this is really starting to get to me. Fox News is losing viewers and although I try, I can’t see to stop it.

Im “My last post”
See the latest from Fox NFL Sunday:
If you have not seen this segment from the 11/10 Fox NFL Sunday program you should watch.
http://video.msn.com/video.aspx?mkt=en-us&brand=foxsports&vid=8aee60eb-9736-4105-ad07-230bc1e8e340&playlist=&editor=&from=&rf=http://msn.foxsports.com/video
Jimmie Kimmel with Pacman Jones (suspended from the NFL for numerous law and league violations) on the phone from a set made to look like a strip club with two scantily clad babes, raining US currency, and Jones announcing this Sunday’s picks . Fox, the self-appointed guardian of decency, family values and lookout for the war on Christmas. Frankly, I could not believe my eyes. You have to wander what Howie, Bradshaw and the rest really thought about the segment. But one has to remember who owns that network. Culture Wars – what a laugh!
Steve, You can’t be serious about that segment. You think maybe ,just maybe, it would have something to do with ratings. It was a spoof. They were kidding. I bet they had beer commercials. You guys are just a little over the edge huh. One thing I don’t understand. If you guys hate Fox so much why don’t you stop watching it? Leave the people who watch it and like it alone. It’s funny how hypocritical you guys are. You want the fairness doctrine but want to silence Fox. You support the troops and refuse to fund them. You want to win the war in Iraq and try setting a date for defeat. You worry about global warming and drive an SUV. There is no war on Christmas but want to change the name to Winter Holiday. You say the war is lost but we are making progress. Where do you stand? Where would you stand next month? 6 months from now? Next year?
MSNBC will be featuring a similar segment tonight on countdown with Keith Oberman (8 pm eastern – Nov 12th).
I feel sorry for all the defenders of FOX News. It may be the only way they can see T&A. The way they defend it sounds so desperate. A “news” channel is not the right media for it though guys. If you want T&A, you should watch MTV or those other channels you mentioned, unless your mommies blocked them.
Janelle , Please tell me your smarter than how you sound. Did your daddy really want a boy and got you instead? It either that or your frustrated. Know what I mean (wink wink)
I’m sorry for my last post, it was childish.
I’m sorry for my last post, it was childish.
This site used to be a place where one can exchange ideas–now posts can be buried!
It sounds to me like media matters has changed your marching orders from idea expression to censorship–shame on you
Fantastic campaign: this has to be one of the sharpest and most effective satirical campaigns ever. And the most badly needed. I prostrate in your direction.
Fair and Balanced?
Or Bare and Phallused?
Oh come on. I definitely agree that fox is a despicable corporation and things need to be done but is this the battle you really want to have? Fox is far from the only network doing this. This is a symptom of our entire media climate that makes news about entertainment. Focusing on something like this and making it seem like Fox’s fault is exactly what they do all the time and it gives Brave New Films and Robert Greenwald a bad name.
Wanted to add that I did sign it.
I’ve very uncomfortable with this latest campaign about Fox’s exploitation of sex on its shows. Sure, they’re hypocrites, but what you’re asking us to do is tantamount to censorship. This is very similar to the feminists going after the porn industries in the 1980s and sounding as bad as the Far Right on issues of sexuality and nudity. I consider myself a liberal and a feminist, and frankly I don’t care if there is nudity and suggestive sexuality on tv. Let’s not be hypocrites ourselves and demand free speech (in its multiple forms) yet try to censor Fox for its focus on sexuality. Come ON! There are more important battles to be fought.
______________
Jaron, what “battle?” The producers did not make this short in order to enter a direct contre-temps with Faux, but as commentary. Would you rather the video were never produced? Is slathering sex all over the channels “just normal” to you?
Pamela, let’s be clear about what BNF is “asking” (I prefer the term “inviting”) you to do.
The post on this page, by cliffshecter, doesn’t tell, ask, or even invite action of any sort. You can only be refering to the link to a petition asking the FCC to require cable providers to unbundle their channels; which would allow you to not pay for the ones you disapprove of. (doesn’t apply to me- I don’t have an idiot box)
If you would view not paying for those channels as censorship of some sort, that’s your call. But unbundling would follow the Free Market Ethic, to not pay good money for something you don’t like.
What Faux’s gratuitous sex is all about is keeping their viewership. It’s in the book: to keep your “programmees” from using actual brain cells while watching, you continually appeal to their very basest levels of response (Jaron, this is for you too).
It’s all very scientific, thanks to Joseph Goebels and fifty years of Madison Avenue. I know people who watch Faux just for this sort of stuff, and then stay for the propaganda. In Faux’s case, it’s also a fight for life, because their advertizers will bail if people quit watching.
Which is why you are being invited (by me) to go sign the petition.
That media has a liberal bias or slant is yet another of the right-wing’s “down is up,” “white is black,” “Clean Water Act means corporate pollution,” Alice-through-the-Looking-Glass lies, that, if repeated ceaselessly, miraculously become the Truth. In fact, SIXTY PERCENT (yes, 60%) of the media are conservative, twenty percent are liberal, and twenty percent are impartial. So there! Spare us from the raging right and its idiot-in-chief.
this makes me sick. everyone posting trying to act like this video compilation is wrong! fox put this stuff out there! but this person who compiled this video, and the website who actually has the balls to put it out there…they are the ones in the wrong?
you are all insane. anyone who likes fox is more than likely a christian, catholic, claims to have “values”, has to control what goes on in everyone else’s bedroom and make everyone feel guilty while you are probably the one indulging your sick perverted mind under the guise of “fox news.”
you are all the sick old white men that love to watch fox news anyway, i can see why you want it to continue!
FUCKIN PERVERTS. our children are being exposed to this.
I’m not sure who the uptight prudes are anymore.
Â
Faux and the neocons or foxattacks.
Well, I read all the posts here to date, and I agree with the ” Change the channel” people.
If ya don’t like Fox News, and the ” So Called Porn “..then go watch Cops, or CSI, or MTV…Listen to the Violent Rap Music, or See People with there Head Blown apart, or a Cop, beating a Person for trying to Resist the type of arest that was being made on them..To Me thats all Very Offensive !!!..But im not going to scream about how this is Wrong to show..some things to me are wrong, some not..I CHOOSE THAT. !
if I don’t like it, I don’t watch it..I don’t need to see it to know it’s there…I have children in this home, and I Refuse to have Rap music in this house, as well as Violent TV viewed by the kids..and I Teach them Values, and right from wrong. All I can hope for, is they retain those values as they grow up..because when there on there Own…then there on there Own..the make there own choices, Like to CHANGE THE CHANNEL if they don’t like whats on..its not up to me to decide for them at that age, the same as it’s not up to you, or anyone to decide what I watch, or Don’t watch, Were all adults, and it’s to late to have someone teach us the Values we should already have by now…so my point here is..
I Will Decide, and no one has the right to decide for me, Like the seat belt Law..I Don’t wear mine, it’s my choice, and my right to decide if I will wear it..and I choose Not to.
So If I watch FOX, or Wear my seat Belt, or Listen to Rap, Watch the Playboy channel, or watch Real porn..My Choice, My Life.
and FOx has the Full American Freedom to show what they want, and how they want..and you have the Right to NOT WATCH IT!..don’t interfere with my Rights, and what I do in My home.
There is a Porn shop here in the town I live in, and there is of course a road passing this shop, I don’t try to have the road removed !!..I just don’t go in the store, if I want to protest it.
and Like WalMart..I refuse to shop there..there are plenty of home town small buisness places here to get what I need.
If ya Don’t like a Dodge, buy a Chevy, or Ford..
Don’t try to Put Dodge out of Buisness because ya don’t like what they make.
they are only one of your choices in life..Feel Lucky you have a Choice.
so have a Decent Life, Its up to you, and only you.
You Have Plenty of Channels to Choose from.
find one ya Like, and leave the other people alone with there choices, because I REALY DON”T CARE What you watch, thats your choice, and you will not stop me from watching what I want..It’s My Choice
so have a Decent Life, Its up to you, and only you.
Rick
You are 100% right Rick. Couldn’t of said it better myself. Do we want to go back to pre-cable times when we only had channels 2,4,5,7,9,and 11? If you don’t like what you see , like you said, change the channel. You always have a choice. They should be happy they have a choice. Have a Happy Thankgiving and God Bless America
Perhaps it was time to ask Fox News Channel and Bill “No-Spin Zone” O’Reilly “himself” to Please Explain Themselves vis-a-vis points addressed in these respective Open Letters so directed.
This is the stupidest thing I have ever saw. Very nice way to snip clips to promotes value in you crappy agenda. This sucks.
While I agree that Fox is hypocritical and ironic, I still don’t want to have anything to do with attacking a broadcaster for showing sex. I wish more would do it. I wish Fox would stop being hypocritical about it, too, but this particular campaign seems to be aimed at getting advertisers to pull because of the sexy content, not because of the politics. I think that’s wrong, so I oppose this campaign.
I fully support embarassing Fox by spreading that video, though. At least then the goal can be to get them to stop condemning “liberals” for supposed “depravity”.
If you sponsor this crap, you are being gravely mislead because it is NOT new but, at best, soft-core porn.
If you sponsor this crap, you are being gravely mislead because it is NOT new but, at best, soft-core porn.
I see that that right-wing reactionaries that repsonded here didn’t get your point: its not a question of changing channels but whether we should be forced to subsidize this filth. Of course, if they could have read well enough to understand your message, they probably wouldn’t need to have their simplistic pap spoon-fed to them by FOX…
My apologies, but as much as I despise the Fox Fantasy channel and it’s You Report, We Distort form of fantasy news; to ask anyone to
withhold advertising because of sex violates my principles, specificity that sex should be open and public, that it is a natural part of existence; our primary reason for existence (I don’t believe
in any religious cloud people reasons for existence), and that there is not enough gratuitous sex on television. As such, I can not ask
them to withhold add dollars for that reason, especially when there ARE real reasons to withhold said add dollars, such as the FACT that
they do not report news, rather opinions, often with no factual evidence to back it, no fact finding, no investigation at all.
SEX, MONEY & POWER!
In the back room, limo, public restrooms and anywhere the media can’t find them.
The republicans are finally showing americans their true colors.
Excuse me! Wrong is wrong. Please quit making excuses for faul folks, Irrisponsible to their society. Let’s stop the nonsense!
It is time to quit subsidizing hypocrisy
I have joined in condemning Fox so-called News for their blatant defense (in court!) of their right to lie on the air and call it news, for their hypocrisy, for being a right-wing propaganda machine, and for having the audacity to claim to be “fair and balanced”; but *I* would be the hypocrite if I condemned them for showing sexy images! Who started this “anti-smut” campaign coming from the liberal side? We’re supposed to be anti-hypocrisy, not anti-sex!!!!
If I were to start complaining about what I have to pay for with my cable service, it would be all those stupid sports channels! AND Faux News – but because of their hypocrisy and hate-filled right-wing slant, not their use of gratuitous sexy images.
While I can’t stand Fox, and despise hypocrisy even more, I also cannot be supportive of a campaign that also is asking for censorship, and using terms like “smut”
If you had come at it simply from the point that they were being hypocritical, I would be all for this.
Okay – there are a lot of people that are saying – “we’re liberals, we’re supposed to be FOR sex! this campaign is stupid!” Well, back off people. I’m as liberal as they come and I was seriously offended when they were reporting on the Daytona killer and playing shaking asses in bikinis next to the “serious” commentator. To me, the loud and clear implication was that Daytona and spring breakers are debaucherous so let’s not feel too sorry for the people who are shot there. It’s offensive. I’m all for sex and skin but it is wrong to put “girls gone wild” scenes next to serious news stories. I want advertisers to be aware of what they are supporting.
It’s not about censorship or even about the smut, it’s about the right of the people to pay for what they want, and not pay for what they don’t want! I don’t want to see scantily clad beach bunnies and buddies, nor do I want to hear or see the pompous blowhard aka Bill O’Reilly. So can I please choose my channels?!
Let’s think this thing through…
Issue #1, Does Fox news portray itself in the same manner it describes itself?
Issue #2, Is soft core porn (or suggestions of such) acceptable for prime time television (my guess is if this were deemed unacceptable much of what is already aired would find itself off the ‘idiot box’)?
Issue #3, Does an anti-porn opinion make one a conservative or feminist? Or, to put the question another way, do you have to be pro-porn if you are a liberal?
These seem to be the issues with many of the commentators on this site. Americans love to give there opinion about issues and most of them conform to those already expressed because our ‘culture’ is what is referred to as ‘mass culture’, which in essence, confirms that even if we disagree the reasons cited are common vernacular.
I would challenge all of you to sit down and think about your opinions. First, are we all not hypocrites? Second, are we more than hormones and sex – and if not, what the hell are we doing living in organized, highly complex, societies? Finally, is this fear of censorship really the issue – are there other areas of media censorship that we are ignoring (I can’t remember the last time a communist or anarchist received respectable airtime). We certainly don’t air the number of international channels (or anywhere close) to the amount available. And please don’t allow your brain to respond with the programmed, ‘well noone would watch them anyway’ response. The point is not whether someone would watch it, according to your argument, but whether if it is an option, then it ought to be available, even if no one would buy it.
If you don’t like what FOX is airing Turn on a different station. No one is forcing you to watch it. (Or any other station)
Its not about the smut. Porn is completely fine. What fox is doing here is promoting there station with soft core porn (which happens to sell really well) while denouncing to stay in line with the beliefs of the average viewer. This is some subliminal shit they are throwing at you. If you’re focusing on the what the reporters are saying you don’t necessarily realize “hey, why are they showing people partying on spring break while they’re talking about a murder” Instead you get aroused while watching fox without realizing it and come back to it for news everyday since they always show some big ol’ titties.
