Turning the Tables on FOX’s Griff Jenkins

Yesterday, after Griff Jenkins botched his day-long attempt to crash an ACORN gathering, commenter Ferg at Daily Kos summarized the high point of Griff’s day:

Fox news guys whines about 1st amendment for 4 minutes while dodging questions about Fox propaganda from Adam, and while standing on a red bath mat in a tuxedo.

What did Griff Jenkins have to show for his work yesterday? Apparently, just this:

The sad reality is: that was the best part of our interaction that Jenkins could highlight to save face. (It was evidently the best part of Jenkin’s entire day that he could highlight…and will highlight again tonight on Glenn Beck.)

But I have to ask: How can it be satisfying to be Griff Jenkins? What on earth motivates someone to stand outside on a bathmat all day waiting for moments like the one above. How do you wake up in the morning and think, “I want to do that again!”

Here’s another moment that makes me ask what motivate’s him, from Wonkette’s DC teabagging coverage:

After wading through a sea of mud to reach the nothing on the other side, we saw these Fox News equipment bins, with a River Cuomo clone casually guarding them. (PSST: WE WANTED TO STEAL THE BINS!)

This guard was, as it happened, Griff Jenkins, but we did not recognize him. We did not recognize the most important celebrity at Teabagging Central!

We tried to spark a conversation with this lonely Fox News Equipment guard and asked, completely earnestly, “So are any famous Fox personalities going to show up today?”

He was silent for a few seconds and then mumbled something about Greta maybe coming later, but with the rain and the cold, ya know…

Wow. Griff, I’m sorry…but that sucks.

So, why do it? Why have Glenn Beck sending you out to do weird, embarassing stuff that moves the ball forward on no real agenda (did your conversation with me accomplish much for you, Griff? How about that picture above of you in the rain — did it move mountains?)

Maybe someone else has an answer. I don’t.

Also on Open Left.

Should have kept at him. He nearly had him there and then he quit.

Its interesting viewing from another country (UK), seeing community activists and unions being demonised by the same corporations that are robbing you blind. It seems when a bunch of people organise with any real success over there, they either sell out (example: Huffington Post, Truthdig.com) and are accepted and promoted or they go their own way and are demonised relentlessly in the corporate media. I dont trust anything I see in the media from your country or mine. They lie and lie and lie yet folks still lap it up.

This left wing news-bloger tried to make it appear as though Foxnews was trying to belittle the people entering the ACORN meeting. In actuality, Foxnews wanted to cover the meeting and was told they could not enter even though left-wing new-blogs were invited. The Foxnews team then began asking people to comment on Foxnews exclusion from the meeting.
As usual, the people of the left-wing organization, ACORN, scurried around trying to stop Foxnews from reporting on their shady political affairs. This is an organization more than ready to except tax money from the citizens of this country but, don't want to open their books or comply with any investigation into their affairs? Until they open their books and make their meeting accessible to all new agencies, they should be cut off from receiving any public money.

Remember your defense of the “tea parties” and think about the term “double standard”.

This constitutes interesting interviewing? I am sorry but Adam need to get a (real) job. You can't attempt to express your legitimacy while hiding behind being an “opinion news organization.” This is simply unabashed toolism and will drive people away from any cause.
