Volunteer Coordinator

Brave New Films is looking for a skilled and experienced Volunteer and Education Coordinator to join our team in Culver City. Made up of over 20 progressive filmmakers and activists, Brave New Films has been at the forefront of the fight to create a just America. Using full-length documentaries and new media campaigns, BNF has been influential in informing the public, challenging corporate media with the truth and motivating people to take action on social issues.

The Volunteer and Education Coordinator reporting to the Programs Director, is responsible for coordinating the Diversity Fellows, Interns and Volunteers, including building up our volunteer base to screen our films. 

RESPONSIBILITIES

·         Recruit, interview and hire 5 Diversity Fellows each year, creating an environment that encourages hard work and learning

·         Recruit, interview and place interns and volunteers in various departments as needed throughout the year

·         Manage the intern, volunteer, and fellow calendar- maintaining a place for open dialogue, scheduling check-ins and training seminars for fellows

·         Preparing appropriate paperwork for university-intern agreements, visa applications, gas stipends and other paperwork as assigned

·         Recruit volunteers to host screening events in their local communities and create new opportunities for volunteers

·         Develop relationships with universities to build up co-op options for interns as well as the Diversity Fellows Program

·         Build relationships with volunteers that screen our films, creating a network of go-to people

 

Other Responsibilities:

·         Represent BNF in various local screening events

·         Plan and coordinate special events for fellows, interns and volunteers (trainings, guest speakers, etc.)

·         Build relationships with organizations to assist in fellow job placement

 

QUALIFICATIONS

·         B.A. with demonstrated interest film and/or advocacy

·         Experience with volunteer or intern management required

·         Highly organized and detail oriented; able to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines

·         High level of computer literacy

·         Excellent communication skills, including writing, and proofreading

·         Demonstrated ability to forge meaningful, respectful relationships with volunteers

·         Strong commitment to diversity, inclusion, and health equity
