Emelda is a journalist and a communication development specialist from Nairobi, Kenya. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Journalism and Media Studies from the University of Nairobi. Over the years, Emelda worked as a freelance writer and research assistant. She later moved to Deaf Media Kenya, a non-profit organization that she co-founded in order to create media content for the deaf in sign language and advocate for their rights to access information, opportunities and essential services. Emelda is passionate about the use of film to promote development and social change. She has produced documentaries such as “Finding Voices” and “Deaf Education in Kenya” and aspires to become a seasoned documentary producer and a campaigner for social justice.
