Immigration Campaign Editing & Production Internship - Summer 2026

We are seeking an Immigrant Rights Editing and Production Intern to support our immigration and deportation documentary campaign through a combination of editing, video production, and research.

This is a training-based internship designed for educational purposes. Interns are supervised and do not independently manage accounts or replace paid staff.

  • Hours: 15 - 20 hours/week (flexible)

  • Compensation: Unpaid (academic credit eligible)

Role Overview

This internship focuses on Brave New Films’ immigration and deportation campaign, supporting the creation of impactful documentary and digital content that exposes injustices in U.S. immigration enforcement. Interns will contribute across research, story development, archival sourcing, and video editing/production workflows, helping bring immigrant stories to life with accuracy and care.

Key Responsibilities

Immigration Research & Story Development

  • Research immigration policy, enforcement practices, detention systems, and asylum law
  • Source court cases, legislation, reports, and news stories related to deportation
  • Help identify compelling narratives that center immigrant voices and lived experiences
  • Fact-check content and ensure accuracy and proper citation

 

Archival & Media Sourcing

  • Locate and organize archival footage, photos, interviews, and audio assets
  • Build and maintain organized media libraries to support documentary storytelling

 

Video Editing & Production Support

  • Assist with video editing tasks (logging footage, cutting clips, organizing timelines, prepping assets)
  • Support post-production workflows and content assembly
  • Collaborate with the production team to translate research into visual storytelling
  • Adapt to evolving production timelines and campaign priorities

 

Ideal Candidate

  • Passionate about immigrant rights, human rights, and social justice advocacy
  • Strong interest in video production and editing (experience with editing software is a plus)
  • Familiar with immigration law, asylum policy, or detention practices (preferred but not required)
  • Able to handle sensitive subject matter with care, nuance, and professionalism
  • Strong research, critical thinking, and organizational skills
  • Clear communicator and collaborative team member
