Kaye joined Brave New Films as Assistant Editor in 2014. After graduating from Emerson College in Boston, MA with a Bachelor’s degree in Post Production, she started on the slippery slope toward documentary work. A storyteller at heart, Kaye has spent years testing the waters of filmmaking through different roles: DP, Director, Graphics, Editor, and Assistant Editor. Kind Hearted Woman, a co-production between David Sutherland Productions and Independent Lens, seeded the roots that would one day blossom into a love of documentary as the most relevant and impactful medium. As the winters became increasingly cold on the east coast, Kaye packed up and arrived in sunny Los Angeles in 2012 to continue her work as Editor. CALPIRG was her first harbor, where she did grassroots organizing around campaigns to stand up against powerful interests. This compelled her even more strongly to embrace documentary filmmaking to expose and educate about these issues. She got her sea legs editing for Popsugar for two years as Lead Live Editor, and finally sunk her teeth into something of substance with Brave New Films. Nothing could be more rewarding than helping to bring meaningful media to the masses.
