Job Description:
Do you want a job where you can work hard and make a difference?
Brave New Films (BNF) is hiring an experienced Production Manager to coordinate and manage multiple short-form documentary and investigative video projects at once—helping to amplify stories that matter, provoke dialogue, and inspire action.
This isn’t a typical 9-to-5 role—it’s as fast-moving as the political landscape and as demanding as social justice work. We’re looking for someone who thrives on new challenges, shifting priorities, and working under a dynamic creative leader.
What You’ll Do:
- Hire and manage freelance researchers, editors, and other crew as needed—including freelance producer-editors (preditors) working on short-form videos.
- Oversee project schedules, budgets, and deliverables from research and scripting to final cut.
- Collaborate closely with the president/director to prioritize tasks and ensure smooth communication and feedback.
- Conduct research, gather archival material, and assist with scripting, stringouts, or rough cuts as needed.
- Work with lawyers as needed for rights clearance and licensing.
- Manage a full-time co-producer, freelance staff, and interns.
Key Notes:
- This work focuses on short-form videos and investigative pieces for social media—very different from producing full-length documentaries.
- Weekend and evening work will be required, and the role is based in Los Angeles.
Skills & Experience Required:
- At least five years of proven experience managing multiple video projects, preferably short documentaries, investigative pieces, or social media-focused content.
- Solid research skills, including sourcing and verifying online videos and archival materials.
- Experience working with freelance preditors and managing short video campaigns.
- Basic editing skills in Adobe Premiere Pro for creating stringouts and rough cuts.
- Passion for and deep knowledge of social justice and politically engaged topics.
- Ability to remain calm, organized, and adaptable in a fast-paced, high-demand environment.
To Apply
Please Send Us:
- Your resume.
- Any relevant samples of work.
- A cover letter answering the following questions:
- Where do you get your political information from? Please provide details and specifics, and share what motivates you to stay engaged.
- Give specific examples of your technical knowledge.
- What professional experiences make you the ideal candidate for this role?
- Describe a time you managed multiple video projects or competing deadlines. How did you prioritize tasks and ensure quality?
- Can you share an experience working under a strong creative leader—what did you find most effective about that collaboration?
- Tell us about any experience you have working with lawyers for rights clearance, licensing, or contracts.
