Issue: Intimidation at the polls and provisional ballots

Kavi is part of Asian Americans Advancing Justice and was a poll watcher during the 2018 election. As part of her poll watching duties, she observed many people whose polling location was changed after years of voting in the same location. Many left, giving up on the process. Many more were given provisional ballots, but Kavi quickly realized that they were not instructed to follow up in order for their ballots to be counted. Since many at her location were confused about the process, she began offering Vietnamese translation and advice to voters who were leaving. Kavi knew they would not have their vote counted either because of being turned away or not being given proper instructions on their provisional ballots. She was confronted by poll workers for assisting voters.
