Guns have a direct and deadly impact on women when it comes to cases of domestic violence.
It’s time for let our lawmakers know they have to take real action FOR WOMEN and AGAINST known domestic abusers - whether you’ve been affected yourself or know someone who has. Because the statistics are frightening.
Over the past 25 years, more intimate partner homicides in the U.S. have been committed with guns than with all other weapons combined.* And more than half of women murdered with guns in the U.S. in 2011 — at least 53 percent — were killed by intimate partners or family members.*
That’s why we’re demanding that states and Congress pass the strongest laws possible to:
1.Prohibit domestic abusers and stalkers from buying or possessing guns;
2.Require background checks for all gun sales, and;
3.Create processes to ensure that abusers and stalkers surrender the guns already in their possession.
Join us as we battle to keep women from living in fear and to make it harder for women to be murdered by their abusers.
Sign here to demand that we keep guns out of the hands of known domestic abusers.
