Documentary Editing & Production Internship - Fall 2026
Brave New Films is seeking an Editing, Production & Documentary Research Interns to gain hands-on experience across the full documentary pipeline - from research and story development to video editing and production support.
Brave New Films is a nonprofit social justice media organization committed to nonpartisan advocacy on urgent human rights issues—including war, racial justice, climate change, reproductive freedom, LGBTQ+ rights, voting rights, and economic inequality. With over one million active social media followers and hundreds of millions of views annually, we use film and digital storytelling to educate, engage, and drive meaningful change.
This is a training-based internship designed for educational purposes. Interns are supervised and do not independently manage accounts or replace paid staff.

Role Overview
This role is ideal for someone passionate about video production, video editing, and research-driven documentary storytelling. Interns will collaborate closely with our production team to help shape compelling narratives using archival materials, current research, and digital media.
Key Responsibilities
Documentary Research & Story Development
- Research and synthesize news articles, academic studies, statistics, and policy materials
- Identify compelling narratives, characters, and story angles to support documentary content
- Fact-check all materials and ensure accuracy and proper citation
Archival & Media Sourcing
- Locate and organize archival video, photos, and audio assets
- Build and maintain organized media libraries for production use
Video Editing & Production Support
- Assist with video editing tasks (cutting footage, organizing timelines, preparing assets)
- Support post-production workflows and project coordination
- Adapt quickly to shifting production timelines and creative needs
Ideal Candidate
- Strong interest in video production and editing (experience with editing software is a plus)
- Excellent research, sourcing, and fact-checking skills
- Familiarity with credible news outlets, archives, and academic databases
- Passion for documentary filmmaking and social justice issues
- Highly organized with strong communication skills
