Location: Online - Register here http://bit.ly/Voter2020
Welcome to our first virtual meeting that will focus on Voter Suppression. We will screen ‘Suppressed: The Fight to Vote’ and hear from Professor and Community Organizer Margaret Groarke. The movie shows how there are still obstacles in the way for some voters around the country, highlighting the experience of voters in Georgia.
Professor Margaret Groarke is the Coordinator, and teaches, for the Political Science department at Manhattan College. She worked as a community organizer, at the Northwest Bronx Community and Clergy Coalition, in the 1980s, and has remained very involved in the organization ever since. She currently represents Manhattan College on the NWBCCC board. She was an active board member of Project Vote from 2009 until 2017. Project Vote’s mission was to build an electorate that accurately represents the diversity of this nation’s citizenry, and to ensure that every eligible citizen can register, vote, and cast a ballot that counts.
