Join us for the first installment in KFTC's new Democracy Film Series. On June 17th we'll live stream Brave New Films' 2019 documentary SUPPRESSED: THE FIGHT TO VOTE. Following the screening, we'll host a virtual post-screening discussion. Watch the film trailer here: https://bit.ly/FighttoVote.
SUPPRESSED takes us to Georgia, where voter suppression was the main reason that Stacey Abrams lost her campaign to become the first African American woman governor in the United States. But the video is not only about defeat, because she continues to organize for the right to vote for all Georgians and all Americans. Her story has much to teach us about voter suppression and how we can all fight back.
KFTC created the Democracy Film Series to highlight our electoral work during the 2020 election season. We have much to learn from movements around the nation who are also fighting to protect the vote and elect progressive candidates who represent the real people.
