Indivisible Mad River Valley is teaming up with Lean Left Vermont for a viewing and discussion of Suppressed: The Fight to Vote. One of the selections for the well-known Mountaintop Film Series at the Big Picture Theatre, Suppressed documents how massive voter suppression in the 2018 midterm election sabotaged Stacey Abrams' run to become the first Black female governor in the U.S.
This brief film is powerful, energizing, infuriating and motivating all at once.
Harwood Union High School students will facilitate a Socrates Cafe—style discussion following the film.
Viewers will leave with concrete actions they can take to protect the right to vote and promote free and fair elections, especially in voter suppression states.
The event is free but donations are encouraged. All proceeds will benefit Fair Fight 2020, which was founded by Stacey Abrams to fight voter suppression.
Donate in advance! https://secure.actblue.com/donate/ffvt?refcode=big
