When it comes to the environment, John McCain only has the interests of Big Oil at heart. That's why he has over 22 Big Oil lobbyists advising him. That's why he favored lifting the moratorium on off-shore drilling — a move that prompted Big Oil to donate over $1 million to his campaign. And thanks to the League of Conservation Voters, we've got the proof!
The senate will likely be voting next week on these issues. Please call Senator McCain's office in Washington (202-224-2235), and tell him to stop siding with Big Oil and start supporting clean energy. Make everyone aware of McCain's deep ties to Big Oil by forwarding this video to five people and telling them to do the same. Don't forget to Digg it!
Then, tell everyone you know to tune into Meet the Bloggers today at 1pm ET/10am PT, when our topic will be the environment, sustainability, and Big Oil vs. innovation. Our special guest, environmental journalist Simran Sethi, will be joined by bloggers Kevin Grandia (DeSmogBlog.com), Brad Johnson (ThinkProgress.org) and Kate Sheppard (Grist.org) to discuss where both of the Presidential candidates stand on the environment.
Check out some of the articles below to learn more about the raging battle between sustainability and Big Oil, and then join us at 1pm ET/10am PT to be part of the conversation.

And if that interest, is in the best interest of American citizens…that’s wrong?!!
Drill Here Drill Now in US Children’s Teeth: A Strategy for Reducing our Dependence on Foreign Decay.
By Jim Conncha and Gobe Gusher [anagrams]
Drilling more now in our children’s healthy teeth will lead to a more reliable supply of cavity free teeth in the future. Drilling now and replacing healthy teeth with fillings, will allow us to develop sustainable cavity fighting strategies for coming generations.
The restriction on drilling in baby teeth needs to be lifted. There is a huge untapped reserve in teething babies that will disappear when their adult teeth come in. By drilling now we can almost double our supply of cavity free teeth and then reap a second windfall of domestic supply when we drill all over again in their permanent teeth.
Virtually all of our current supply of cavities comes from large candy makers transporting treats from other countries. Thus, drilling now in our American children’s teeth would actually reduce the risk of foreign cavities by reducing the number of healthy teeth vulnerable to foreign decay. By eating American candy we can rely on a domestic supply of cavities while reducing the amount of international candy entering our ports.
Opening up new teeth for drilling in the U.S.’s children, even if these newly drilled teeth won’t actually reach adulthood for several years, would immediately impact the amount of upward speculation on long-term commodity investment in teeth. Since the tooth futures market will see mostly cavity free teeth in the coming years, the speculation will cease and prices will drop, since higher supplies lead to lower prices.
Everyone promoting drilling in healthy teeth wants to do it in compliance with environmental safeguards, which in the United States are some of the most stringent in the world.
Do we let other nations drill our children’s teeth or do we do it ourselves with better protection for our children?
And have any of us made a REAL statement
of protest –by giving up our stupid car?
Anyone?
Even one person?
Booo Hooo
Energy Independence is a strategic national security objective that will be achieved through policy shifts and technology development. I believe one good example of this is Toyota Prius which is a giant leap away from oil addiction and a new direction for our country as well as solar panels and wind energy. All the drilling in the world won’t fix our energy crisis we need freedom from big oil company’s like Exxon Mobile, etc.
And think of all the oil
we could save -and what a
statement we could make by
not wasting feul on mowing
our lawns.
Seriously.
BTW -have any of you in older
track suburban developements
with well water been noticing
people who’ve been living there
-after say fifty or sixty
-coming down with
exotic and fatal neurological
disorders?
I sure have.
Betcha it’s from all those decades
of dumping fertilizers, pesticides
and run-off on their grounds.
DO check it out in your area.
I am NOT joking.
Like something out of Strindberg.
XTV. No images –just XX’s.
There you go!
You folks who read and believe this crap are nutz. You need to move to russia with the other commies. You people dont have a clue about the oil business, you have never roughnecked on a rig, I bet you havent seen a rig, but you all experts, experts of B.S.
