This is a perfect example of why health insurance should been opened up to nation wide competition.
@texasconservative
Monopolies don't compete they just become too big to fail.
If insurance companies want to be monopolies then they should be regulated as utilities and be told what their profit margins will be. If this does not sound appealing then they need to be broken up so we can have real compitition.
Opening up state lines will do little other then allow people to buy insurance from the least regulated state….and is it not deregulation that has created the situation we are in now? That is, rob the public and not be accountable.
Has there ever been a true-monopoly owned business in this country? The answer is a resounding NO!
Why should any privately run business be forced to show their bottom-line profit margin? When did it become the Governments business to regulate profit margins of privately run companies?
Opening up competition in the least regulated States is the point, isn't it? Allowing insurance companies who have the least amount of regulation can offer insurance at greatly reduced rates. Isn't that the intended objective?
