Someone needs to step up to the plate and offer a solid counter-narrative that taps into both the emotional memories of that awful, divisive, frightening, deadly time, as well as the intellectual side with irrefutable facts that play into established ideas that swing voters have about Trump.

A: It is time to take another look at President Jimmy Carter’s contribution to our current political situation. In July of 1979 before all hell broke loose with the Iran hostage Crisis & the Russian invasion of Afghanistan Carter gave what is known as his Crisis of Confidence speech. A: Trump is emotionally incompetent to lead the country, the armed forces and hold the nuclear codes. He has dictatorial goals. He is a convicted felon awaiting more trials for other crimes. A: Honestly, I fear what will happen BEFORE, DURING and AFTER the elections. It is exhausting to hear all the lies and witness how blatant dishonesty no longer disqualifies candidates running for federal office. I am ashamed of the state of our electoral process in this country.

Meanwhile, the media completely ignores the contradictions in Mr. Vance’s background and Trump’s inability to deal with reality, his increasingly delusional state, and his failing mental abilities, as well as the dangers that Project 2025 poses to our American Democratic Republic and it’s citizens, especially regarding the issues of climate change and the migration it’s already causing. These destructative Project 2025 approaches, because they are based on massive psychological dysfunctions and the blind spots and deafness to entire swaths of reality those dysfunctions cause, can only make worse every problem they seek to address and will inevitably create exactly the situations they believe they’re seeking to avoid.

Of course our worship of wealth and power in the false belief that possessing those things is a sign of wisdom and will cure all of our own ills if we just accumulate enough is leading us down these mistaken and misguided paths. The desire for wealth and power has corrupted our media, our politicians, and much of our religion in the US. We will destroy ourselves if we don’t find ways to circumvent it and begin to value each other “by our fruits,” i.e. the benefits to others and to society in general that we provide, rather than by the wealth we accumulate (which, far too often, have nothing to do with each other).

A: Elections in the US are a farce and a clown show put on for the rubes to make us believe we have choices and that the republic is alive and well.

4) The decimation of public spaces, as more and more they are privatized.
5) The restructuring of civil servant jobs towards being patronage is making them less and less publicly accountable and democratic.

A: For me, the biggest issue is the concentration of wealth and power in the US. The money of the super-wealthy is dominating our elections, both national and local. And, unfortunately, it’s pretty clear that money can indeed buy elections. Effectively, the US is becoming a plutocracy. Wealth = Power. No amount of campaign reform can change this. Unless we can somehow radically change direction, we will be living under the thumb of billionaire overlords. Pointing out just how unequal things are can help. Americans want a more equal society, but don’t realize just how unequal we are.
