Dear Senator/Congressmember:
I am writing to urge you to be on the forefront of putting an end to our country’s gun violence epidemic.
This session, please support the Equal Access to Justice for Victims of Gun Violence Act (H.R. 4399), the Protecting Domestic Violence and Stalking Victims Act (H.R. 3130, S. 1520), and the Background Check Completion Act (H.R. 3051, S 2213). The Equal Access to Justice for Victims of Gun Violence Act (H.R. 4399) would repeal the gun industry’s immunity from being sued, allowing Americans to hold firearm manufacturers and dealers liable for harm caused by the weapons they sell.
The Protecting Domestic Violence and Stalking Victims Act (H.R.2216, S 1290), would expand federal law to bar abusive dating partners, individuals under a restraining order and convicted stalkers from buying or owning a gun.
The Background Check Completion Act (H.R. 3051, S 2213)would close a current loophole that allows gun sales to proceed if a background check is not completed after 72 hours, even if the gun buyer is not legally allowed to purchase a gun.
These three bills are important steps towards holding gun dealers accountable for illegal sales and truly enforcing our current background check system.
Additionally, I urge you to work to expand the Brady Background Check to ALL gun sales. Experts estimate that 40% of gun sales occur in “no questions asked” transactions that often take place over the Internet or at gun shows where, in most states, background checks are not required. This dangerous loophole puts thousands and thousands of guns in the hands of dangerous people like domestic abusers, felons and those who are mentally ill. We need to extend background checks to all gun sales, including at gun shows and over the internet.
Thank you for your work to make American families safer. It’s time to put an end to this gun violence epidemic.

Dear State Senator/Representative ___________,
I am writing to urge you to be on the forefront of putting an end to our state’s gun violence crisis - and help lead our country out of this terrible crisis. This session, there are multiple bills that deal with access to firearms and ways to make our communities safer through passing policies that deal with issues of domestic violence, unintentional shootings, suicide with firearms, gun trafficking, and gun sales. I ask that you prioritize my family - and the lives of all [insert state]ans - over the political pressure of the NRA and gun companies. Americans have had enough. Enough lost lives. Enough fear. It’s time to stand up to the gun lobby and put safety first.Thank you for your work to make our state’s families safer.
