We realize the next logical thought for a lot of people is "I want to do something but what do I do!!?" Well you no longer have to feel helpless! We know what you should do:
We are a small group of passionate people working to make real, tangible, positive change. We're looking for people who have 20 to 60+ hours per week to work on all aspects of our online video campaigns. If you have any spare time this is the place to spend it.
These are unpaid volunteer positions but you will be getting real world, hands on experience and training.
GENERAL HIRING CRITERIA
- Passion: You care about social justice and human rights.
- Flexibility: we are a non-profit and have a lot going on. Be ready to wear many hats and switch gears quickly.
- Can do Attitude: While we do rely on Volunteers to perform routine office work, the primary focus of your work will be specific to your developing skills related to your career interests.
- Impeccable work ethic: we expect Volunteers to follow the policies of our regular employees.
- Time: (unless noted in the description) 2 – 3 days / week, 1 – 3 months, depending upon the project. Monday – Friday, 10 am – 7pm (Half days possible)
- Location: Culver City studios / office (Free parking! Near public transportation!) Unless offsite “virtual” work is appropriate.
The Post-Production Department seeks career-track interns to assist in digitizing footage, DVD authoring, basic Final Cut Pro editing, as well as compiling research and presenting reports. We are looking for someone to commit a minimum of 2 days a week. Reports to: Post Supervisor
Technical Requirements:
- Basic knowledge of Final Cut Pro.
- Familiar with multiple video formats & codecs
- Familiar with DVD Authoring
Other Requirements:
- Detail-oriented and organized
- Self-starter, proactive, and uses time efficiently
- Tech-savvy: able to learn new programs quickly
Recommended Skills:
Any production background in working with lights, cameras, and grip equipment is a plus (but not required).

Vietnamese Bilingual Volunteer
Brave New Foundation is in need of a volunteer to assist with translation and dubbing of an interview in Vietnamese. Volunteer will be recorded translating the interview. This is a one-time opportunity and will require short-term commitment.
Requirements:
- Excellent use and understanding of spoken Vietnamese
- Knowledge of current political issues
- Experience with voice recording not required, but beneficial
- Ability to think quick and be a go-getter
Cuentame Social Media, Journalism Intern or Volunteer
Brave New Foundation is seeking a social media intern/volunteer for our new Facebook based campaign Cuentame!
An ideal candidate will be someone that is:
- Passionate about Latino issues (political, social, arts and culture) in the media and on the ground.
- Has strong social networking skills: Facebook, Twitter, Youtube, Bookmarking sites etc
- A good researcher: Blogs, News sites, Facebook pages, organizations
- A creative thinker - Thinks about new and innovative ways to spread a message - video, imagery, media etc.
- Has strong writing skills; you will be encouraged to write in all capacities, email, blogs, copy, messages
- Has a can-do, pitch in attitude
Bilingual preferred but not required it is also a plus if you have graphic design skills. (Adobe - Photoshop, Illustrator etc)

Documentary Production Intern

Communications Intern
Brave New Films is looking for a Communications Intern to help the Communications Director in the day- to-day administration needs of the department. Intern will walk away with knowledge of how a communications department runs and is maintained. This position will include the following day-to-day responsibilities:
- Uploading BNF related articles onto the web
- Researching reporters/ helping to create targeted reporter lists
- Maintain updated list of press hits on the web and Google docs
- Other tasks as needed
Qualifications

- Some experience in communications and or journalism
- Highly motivated and a self starter
- Ability to multi task and work on various projects
- Flexible, adjust well to changing demands and projects

Supervolunteer: Donor Communication
If you are passionate about politics and have 15 hours a week to help with donor contact coordination and general administration, then we need you! We are looking for a super volunteer who is internet and email savvy, and wants to help out with communication.
Qualifications
- Passion toward politics
- Internet/Email savvy
- Strong knowledge of spreadsheets and other data entry
- Strong verbal and written communication
- 10-15 hours a week

Bilingual Production for Cuentame’
Skills Required
- Bilingual (Spanish English).
- VERY Facebook literate.
- Strong sense of the Latino community’s interests, concerns.
- Excellent written verbal skills.
- Attention to detail.
- Positive, can-do, fast-paced team member.
- Working knowledge of Final Cut Pro a plus.
- We will train if other skills are needed.
Post Production
Technical Requirements:
- Basic hands-on knowledge of Final Cut Pro
- Familiar with the process of posting videos to YouTube and other online websites
- Familiar with DVD Studio Pro & Soundtrack Pro
- Familiar with multiple video formats & codecs
- Familiar with operating DVR / Tivo decks
- Recommended: Basic knowledge of Adobe Photoshop
Other Requirements:
- Detail-oriented and organized
- Self-starter, proactive, and uses time efficiently
- Excellent research / report writing skills
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel; FileMaker is a plus
- Tech-savvy: able to learn new programs quickly
I recently watched your film on Wal-Mart, and have found myself inspired to want to do something and make a positive difference in this world.
