A Tenacious Ten

It all started in an old rundown motel – a motel nestled in Culver City where former movie execs used to entertain mistresses on their long lunches. The office is an unassuming building hidden by the shadow of Sony Studios.

What the world now knows as Brave New Films began after the release of Outfoxed, where director Robert Greenwald and his ragtag team of volunteers took on the largest corporate media company – Fox News. Outfoxed, propelled by house parties, community screenings, and pissed off liberals, was viewed in movie theaters and on DVDs over hundreds of thousands of times and launched the David vs. Goliath storyline that the team at BNF still proudly wears as a badge of honor.

BNF has always been the little studio that packs a powerful punch – Robert and his small team have taken on the likes of Rupert Murdoch, Roger Ailes, Charles and David Koch, Blackwater, Walmart, and most recently President Obama's use of drones to kill innocent people in Pakistan, Yemen, and other countries in the Middle East. With limited resources BNF has taken on unconventional story lines and helped change perceptions and the culture around important issues of our time. BNF has a ten year record of fighting the big fight with even larger stakes.

When BNF started in 2004 distribution models and editing remained largely off-limits to smaller production companies and filmmakers. Facebook, Twitter, and Tumblr were not around to spread Greenwald's viral films. The films succeeded through word-of-mouth and passionate people passing on the DVDs to their friends and family. The script has since changed, much in part to Greenwald and his team of production gurus, political activists, and online mavens. The documentaries and short films have been streamed across all seven continents and have been viewed over 100 million times and counting. Greenwald is looking to the next ten years and other battles and causes that could use a fearless champion.
