Join DC Public Library on Tuesday, Oct. 6 at 6 p.m for a virtual screening of the documentary, Suppressed 2020: The Fight to Vote followed by a moderated panel discussion.
The screening will be shown simultaneously on DC Public Library's Facebook and YouTube pages. Suppressed 2020: The Fight to Vote by Robert Greenwald is a short, powerful documentary about the growing threat of voter suppression to our 2020 election. The documentary features personal accounts from voters of color across the state of Georgia who reveal deliberate, widespread voter suppression in the 2018 midterm election. Polling place closures, voter purges, missing absentee ballots, extreme wait times and voter ID issues were in full effect again during the 2020 primaries and are on-going across the country right now.
Following the screening there will be a moderated discussion on voter suppression featuring: Moderator: Diallo Brooks, Senior Director of Outreach for People For the American Way, Panelists: Cecilia Aguilera, Counsel for Fair Elections Center, Barbara Helmick, Program Director for DC Vote, and Adam Jentleson, Public Affairs Director for Democracy Forward. Please join us for this important event!
